Knowing When to Give Up is Key
When things get tough, is it time to give up?
Business can be really hard, and everyone knows that hospitality can be exceptionally difficult. While it's true that the industry is always in crisis, it feels like the last few years have really tested us.
Brexit, COVID, the energy crisis, supply issues, staffing crises, the cost of living—these are just a few challenges, and the list keeps growing.
No sooner have we adapted to one change than something else comes up. Is the industry just getting too hard? Is it time to throw in the towel?
Or is it just a sticky patch that needs to be got through?
Knowing the difference is key because, in reality, when you start something new, you’re full of energy, enthusiasm, optimism, and hope for the future.
You’re prepared to throw yourself into it and do everything it takes to make it succeed. This is as true for projects, friendships, new jobs, and relationships as it is for business.
But after a while, it all starts to get a bit mundane.
The shine fades, everyone else loses interest, the quick wins are over, and now it's about plowing through the tough bits to cement your expertise.
You build your depth of understanding and grow at a slower pace.
So, is it difficult because it's not possible, or is it just hard because that is how life is?
Is this just a sticky patch that you need to work through, or is it time to give up?
Our Kith & Kin community is all about the hospitality industry coming together to ask these questions of each other.
What you need is to know that other people have experienced the same and to learn from them how they coped in similar situations.
What lessons did they learn, and how did they discover the right answer for themselves?
I'm proud to tell you that I don't have the answer for you!
The answer is personal, and only you know what is right for you.
However, I am certain that by finding other people who share your experiences, we can make it an easier decision to discover.
Come and join us at a Forum Event or a Inner Circle lunch to discover that a close peer network of like minded hospitality business can transform how you work.
